Date - 06/11/2014 Place - Kamarajar Arangam, Chennai The term ‘Culturals’ is synonymous with fun and competitiveness. In a first of its kind attempt, we intended to inject social responsibility into this. SocioFest is a cultural with a difference. All the events have themes based on social and current topics, not limited to Right to Education, Animal Cruelty, Internet Safety, Suicide Prevention, Food Security, and Human Rights. The idea is to not only entertain participants but abundantly inform them about various social issues too. About 20 schools from Chennai took part in the event which was opened by a panel of guests who include Mr. V.K. Jeyakodi (I.A.S, Member Secretary SDAT, TN), Dr. K.Radhakrishnan (I.P.S, ADGP, Law & Order, TN), Mr. B. SankarMahadevan (Founder – UdhavumUllangal NGO, TN) and Mr. NagappanValliappan (Stock Market Analyst). The over-all trophy was won by Shree Niketan Matriculation Hr. Sec. School Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu. Cheer, founded in 2011 by a group of lawyers and social workers, is a society working towards securing human rights for different sections of the society through target-specific projects and it is also dedicated to raising awareness on social issues through various campaigns. Cheer is currently engaged in the social and economic rehabilitation of the transgendered and in establishing rural learning centres in Tamil Nadu.
Date - 20/04/2015 Place - Jumbo Kids School Thank You Everyone for giving transgender Mr.Selvam, a chance to interact with the public and giving him a motivation to lead a dignified living. On behalf of Cheer team, we convey our special thanks to Ms.Arthi Devi and her team for extending their warm hospitality and giving us a chance to put up a stall to present ourselves at the Jumbo Kids School.
